Stock Tracking & Adjustments
Can I track stock for items I sell as services?
Services (like consulting hours or tuition fees) don't need stock tracking. When adding a service item, leave stock-related fields empty. mazu treats it as a non-inventory item. Disable the Stock feature for that item.
How does stock update when I create an invoice?
When you create an invoice with catalogue items, stock is automatically deducted. If you invoice 5 units of an item, your stock count reduces by 5 immediately. No separate stock entry needed.
How does stock update when I record a purchase?
When you create a purchase bill and select items from your catalogue, stock is automatically added. If you purchase 100 units, your stock count increases by 100.
How do I track stock IN and OUT separately?
mazu tracks all stock movements: IN (from purchases and manual adjustments) and OUT (from invoices, credit notes, and manual adjustments). View the stock ledger for any item to see every movement with date, reference, and quantity.
What happens to stock when I create a credit note for a return?
If the credit note is for a returned item, stock is added back automatically when you create the credit note and select the items being returned.
Can I adjust stock manually without creating an invoice or purchase bill?
Yes. Go to the item → Stock Adjustment / Inventory Journal. Enter the reason (damaged goods, physical count correction, personal use, etc.) and the quantity. This keeps the stock count accurate and creates an audit trail.
